Co2 question

So got some stuff together to start a diy co2 soda bottle method bought a bubble counter rigged a small elite pump to disperse co2 my question is can I use the caps they sell made for soda bottle to hook airline too the one with the built in nipple just seems to me there less likely to leak then the drilling hole kinda way I've used them for years on my brine shrimp hatching bottles and they have never failed nor leaked a drop of water but I don't see anyone using them on the diy co2 set ups is there a reason? Any advice would be great Thank you all

Bump: These are the caps I am talking about

There's no reason you can't use one of those... I suspect a lot of folks are using the home-made ones because DIY is, well embraced by folks with DIY spirit, and why not DIY more?

That said, I don't think that the home-made ones with a drilled hole and a barbed coupler siliconed in place is likely to leak either. Perhaps under extreme pressure they might be the first-point of failure, but you shouldn't be getting to such high pressure..
