Dosing Fertilizer - Starbucks Pump

I am new to dry fertilizers, I own some just never used it! I just added a CO2 tank so hoping to start using fertilizers.

I was wondering if anyone has tried using the starbucks syrup bottles with the dispenser. I buy the bottles with dispenser for home use so have a bunch laying around. They dispense about 1/4 ounce each squirt so was thinking I can just use that to dispense into the tank.

Not sure if my logic is flawed. Now onto the hard part, and trying to figure out how much powder and liquid to use!

Right now I have a 40 gallon tank with a DIY hood with 4 - 18w cfl bulbs in it and a milwaukee regulator into a ceramic disc.

It'll definitely work. Nilocg actually sells some of his fert packages with pump bottles.

If you tell us what ferts you have, what the size of the bottle is, and exactly how much each pump is we can help. You are probably going to want to be more accurate than about 1/4ounce.

.25 oz is pretty close to 7.3ml

I dose my tanks at the rate of 1ml per 3 gallons. If my recipe and method were converted to this container I would dose a 20 gallon tank with one squirt, so the 40 gallon would get 2 squirts. I would not try to mix the fertilizers any more concentrated than this.

How many squirts to empty one of these dispensers? Divide by 2, and that is how many doses there are.

Set up one bottle with N, P, K
Set up the other bottle with trace minerals and iron. (CSM+B and chelated iron)

The amounts listed are a single dose. You will have to do the math and figure out how much to add to a bottle.
40~60gal
50% H20 change-weekly
First bottle has Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K)
1/2 Tsp-KN03 3x a week OR you can use K2SO4 if this is too much NO3 for your tank.
1/8 Tsp-KH2P04 3x a week

3/4 Tsp-GH booster once a week if needed. If your GH is at least 3 degrees then your tank may not need it. I add this with water changes, for those few tanks that need it.

The second bottle contains:
1/8Tsp-CSM+B (a trace mineral blend) 3x a week
Optional
1/32 tsp-Fe/Iron 3x a week

Thanks for all the information.

Here is what I have in terms of fertilizer. They came with a craigslist ad I responded to for a used regulator.

Plantex CSM + B
Mono Phosphate
Potassium Nitrate
Potassium Sulfate
Iron Chelate.

The bottle is 1 litre but I was thinking of just filling it up to either 250ml or 500ml so the solution wasn't sitting to long. Was thinking I would mix it every 2 weeks or something like that.

Diana I am confused on the formulas for a 40 gallon tank for example it says 1/8 TSP every dose. So if I want to say 4 squits or 1 ounce of liquid is a dose I would then say that if I want two weeks worth or 6 times I need 6 ounces (180 ML). So then I would fill the bottle with 180 ml and put in 6/8 tsp of powder?
