Seachem Potassium

I'm thinking about picking some of this stuff up and dosing it in my shrimp tank. Are there any negative side effects associated with excess K2O? I've read unused phosphates have the potential to contribute to an algae bloom, so i'm not wanting anything like that.

Excess potassium will not cause algae issues. Store bought liquid ferts are mostly water anyways.

Get K2SO4 or KNO3 instead. Depends on whether or not you also need to dose N.
Liquid ferts = paying for water

I personally dose a lot of extra K in my high tech because I saw some lower leaves were getting pinholes at normal EI levels.

I believe that the myth of excess phosphate causing algae has been shown to be wrong by many people. There are a lot of things that cause algae, mostly high light or improper amounts of co2 but it does not appear that excess nutrients is one of them.
