EI dosing with greenish water

So every since I've started EI dosing, I've been noticing that my water has been getting green by about Wednesday after my Sunday water change.

I have pressurized co2, and my light is about 70 par at the substrate.

I dose as per wets ei calculator for 30 gal on my 29 gallon tank. I have tried dosing less at 20 gallon with no success.

I recently had to send out my co2 regulator for repair so I stopped dosing and water changes cut my light intensity and photo period in half. I had never seen my water more clear but I noticed some deficiencies.

The Sunday that just passed, did my water change and started dosing regularly with an 8 hr photo period at half intensity as I anticipated my regulator would arrive this week. (it did today)

Now I got green water again.

Now it's not offensively green, but it's enough to annoy me after seeing it so clear without dosing.

What could it be? Any ideas?

I believe it's from trace elements (micros) you dose.

I think so as well. I dosed trace yesterday. But what about the trace is it? Bad quality? Too much of it?

Too much (iron to be exact). But the amount that gives the clear water
you desire may be not enough for plants. You have to find the balance.
Anyway, a tank using soil based substrate can get away with less micros
than a tank with inert substrate.

Good to know. Thanks. I'm currently using eco complete :/ but doing my next tank with aquasoil and mostly HC so if I can get away without my tank looking like someone peed in it, I'll be happy.
