First time i had ever use SMS and when i do WC i have NO KH Readings , So i adjust my KH to about 3* to 4.5* and my Co2 w/controller my PH will be at 6.7, I just check my Tap i am lucky to get .5* on my KH test kit . You could try adding crushed coral to your filter or some of Seachem's Onxy Sand to your substrate. Both should increase and buffer your kH and pH.

I think they'll also throw off your CO2 readings if going by a chart, however.
