Petrified wood affect water chemistry?

hi,
im planning to use petrified wood as hardscape for my 50gal tank...
substrate is river sand and sera floredepot
im planning to have tetras as fish in my tank=)

im just concerned if petrified wood will affect water parameters.
im just guessing it might harden the water since it is calcified wood.

Any comments and experiences on these?

I've been using it in one of my tanks for several months now and there have been no effects on the water chemistry.

I use it in all of my tanks and it does not affect my water chemistry.

I asked this question before and was told the same thing.

However, I've read some articles (one in TFH by Takashi Amano) that report petrified wood WILL harden water.

My own conclusion is that it will harden water over time, but keeping up with regular water changes most likely takes care of most if not all of the effects.

Most petrified wood is made up of silicates like quartz. It's completely inert and will not harden water.
