removing driftwood tannis

i hate to change water just because it went yellow from driftwood and dirt. i dont dose EI, i have my own dosing routine and i keep my nitrates and phosphates in check without water changes needed. therefor raises the questinon, what can i use to visually clear the tannis?
i know of product called purigen being popular. will that work? do i have other options?


29gal dirted tank
yeast co2, ordered pressurized
dosing micro mix, kno3, kh2po4, casual glutaraldehyde

using Carbon in your filter I hear will clear it.

yes, carbon will help clear tannins, but not completely clear them

your fish love it, why not leave it and let it naturally just run its course. the tannins will eventually stop leaking

I have a 10 gallon with a couple pieces of driftwood, and capped dirt in it. Had some significant tannins.

I threw in one of those purigen pouches, and it kept the water clear for at least a month or two. Water is still fairly clear, but I think I may need to recharge the purigen, I've just been lacking in my maintenance lately.

It works really well.

Yes, as stated above Purigen will clear it right up as well. I have a large Malaysian driftwood stump that leached tannins and the Purigen made the water very clear. After some time the wood stopped leaching tannins.
