Water hardness (and other help)

right so my Ph is around 6.6, not sure what my GH or KH is because i lost the instructions to my API GH and KH kit. what i was wondering is if any one has a coppy of this online or know of it. also if i want to rase my water hardness or GH how would i do that ( have some snails in the tank and some shrimp). i have some calium tablets lying around would those work?

Snails don't need any more GH from the aquarium than they already get! For API GH/KH kits, look for the turn of colors with each drop. When it happens, the number of drops is the degree of GH/KH. I've found that the GH kits don't seem to work very well.

that the think the the instructions had the reference to see what the drops referred to in ppm. also yes snails need relatively hard water (ubove 7 ph naturally) other wise there shells could desolve (haven been watching a empty one desolve actually so that is why i'm worried).

Each drop = 1 dH. There are plenty of dH to ppm conversion tables on the net.

gH is from orange to green.
kH is from blue to yellow.

I think snails need GH (calcium ions) to live. Adding calcium chloride is an easy way to get more calcium, if your GH is very low as mine is. It is sold as pool hardness increaser.
