Amquel Turned Black

Have you ever seen Amquel turn a greyish black? I bought a gallon jug last year. I have been using it to dechlor a filter sock after bleaching for my reef. Yesterday I opened the jug..there was just a few inches left, and it had turned black. I tossed it, but am curious if any of you have ever seen this happen? Or know what might have caused it?

I just checked my bottle that is a few years old and it is clear. Guess you can tell I don't use it. Maybe something got in it by accident while you were doing water changes
