High Phosphrate reading tap water 5.0, but want to EI dose.

Currently my tank is in a black out due to BGA. Comes off tomorrow. I bought myself a Phosphrate check and checked the tap water, came in at 5.0.

So if I want to EI dose a 180L tank, how do I do it, if the water in the tap is 5.0. I dont have access to RO water.

Do I have to put something in to absorb the phosphate or just reduce the Phosphate EI dose?

Anyone help me before tomorrow

Thanks

I have 1ppm of PO4 in my tap and I do adjust my EI dosing accordingly. I do add a little extra K to make up for the K I'm missing with the lower KH2PO4 though.

Now, that works for me, I honestly do not know if that would work in a situation of 5ppm out of the tap.

It's also possible your PO4 test isn't quite right, you may wish to do a search for information on 'calibrating the test kit.'
