Perpetual Preservation System - PPS-Pro question

I plan to start dosing my planted tanks using the PPS-Pro method, for this I will need two 1 litre bottles. I am planning to buy 1 litre water bottles, the method calls for using boiled, distilled, water. Could I use bottled spring water and skip the boiling process?

I just use distilled water from the grocery store. I think the boiling comes in because the micro mix will grow some stuff so you want to start with something close to sterile. I've heard of using a couple drops of excel to keep it from growing something too.

Spring water is probably more expensive than distilled water, no?

Distilled water is the way to go, as mentioned. You don't have to boil it, if you don't want to.

Well, I boiled tap water instead and let it cool, from my understanding boiled water is distilled water haha.. Hope I didn't fudge that up. From the way I read the instructions, Im supposed to dose the Macro and Trace in the morning before the lights come on.

Can anyone confirm this?

Boiled water is not the same as distilled water. Distilled water is made through a boiling process, whereby the steam is condensed and then collected. This condensate is distilled water.

If anything, boiling tap water will concentrate it slightly.

As for dosing, you can dose whenever you want; the more important thing to remember is to dose in the first place.
