Should I lower the EI dose on a new tank

Hi,

My tank has been planted for a few weeks now. The plants are all very small and the carpet plants have not spread out yet. While I wait for the plants to grow and fill in the tank, it is a little barren and I am finding algae taking those spots.

I am using the EI method to fertilize and I wonder if I would have less algae if I lessened the dosage until the plants grow a bit? Would this help reduce algae or would it hurt the plants growth and nutrient intake? Thanks

Cutting down on the length of the light period would help and you didn't say how much of what kind of light you have so that is conditional. And no picture of the whole tank makes the statement that small plants don't need near as much ferts as larger plants also fit the guesswork category as it relates to your tank but I will co-sign most anything Diana says on plants so with limited info I'd say a bit of both were in order.

The shortest distance between any two points is a straight line...in the opposite direction...

The tank is a 110G. Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite are near 0. CO2 is on 90 minutes before lights and is in the 25-30ppm range during light-time.

I have and Aquatic Life T5-HO Light Fixture with 4 Lunars - 6 x 54 W - 48" that is on for 8 hours/day:

I have added some BACOPA MONNIERI (moneywort) beside each Java Fern (back centre), otherwise, the tank looks like this:

I have some Eleocharis sp. mini in transit for the bottom right that will be in there in a few days.

7 ottos and a few shrimp on algae patrol.

If you need any more info to assess. Let me know. Thanks!
