I found some cheap plant tabs today, thoughts?

As above I found some tabs for houseplants and I was wondering if they would be any good to use as an experiment in a planted tank.

I looked through the ingredient list whilst in the shop and the only thing I could remember by reading the guides is that ammonia was a big no, only to remember on the ride home other things to watch out for.

Anyway , I can use the tabs for houseplants if there the wrong composition.

So to cut a long story short, this is what there made of.

Nitrogen = 4%
Phosphorus Pentoxide = 2.5%
Potassium Oxide = 2.3%
Calcium Oxide = 9.3%
Iron 0.18%
Magnanese = 0.035%

Got a feeling there totally the wrong thing?

I know that people have used Jobes plant spikes that are labeled for ferns. If that is what you have, go for it!

What is the source of the nitrogen?

Unfortunately it does not say what the source of the nitrogen is on the packet. I dug a bit further and it seems like the Nitrogen source is poultry/horse manure.

I've no idea if this is suitable or if it's toxic for any water life. Though I have read some people feed it to pond fish.

Anyway, I think I will have to experiment with it. Seems like a very cheap fert, Ģ1 for one kilo.

I would "experiment" in a seperate small tank if possible.
You can get fairly inexpensive capsules of ferts called Osmocote+(which are really also a house plant fert) and they are widely use by people on here. They can be bought from here:https://www.plantedtank.net/forums/sh...393&highlight=

The shortest distance between any two points is a straight line...in the opposite direction...
