how long would it take to see clear water?

Hi. Not sure if this is right place to post but here I go...
I've set up a first dirted tank for my parent's house about 2 weeks ago...
Used MGOPM on the bottom, put about 1 1/2" layer of pool filter sand and cap it off with black gravel.
At first it looked beautiful and made me proud =)
but... as the time went by...
water started turning brown... we've done couple of WC every 2-3 days but still water is turning brown.
Is this cause of MGOPM? How long would it to see some clear water again?
Is the brown water bad for the fish?
Thank you.

Oh, that's because of the potting soil mix. It's leaching tannins into the water. Just give it a 1-2 weeks or so, keep doing a lot of water changes and the tannins will go away in time. If you have any seachem purigen in hand, use some, it will help clear things up quick.

+1 Although, it could take a lot longer than a couple of weeks.
