Emergency....Problem solved!

I was dosing my tanks and thought I was dosing Phosphates and realized afterwards that I was dosing NITRATES...GRHHHHHHHH....so here is what was dosed...55g was dosed 20ml nitrates, 40b dosed 10ml, and 20L was dosed 10 ml...will there be any ill effects or should I do large water changes ASAP?

Can't go wrong with a water change.

I test weekly and all 3 tanks are at 20ppm by water change day.....I decided to do 75%wc on 20L, 50-55% on 40B, and 75%wc on 55g....alll inhabitants are use to 50-75% weekly water changes.....so they get an extra one this week....

Doing a water change will help restore the original conditions.

Also, saying how much you dosed (volume wise), but not the concentration, does not provide a lot of information, since in the end, we don't know how much was added.

For example, 20 mL of a very dilute solution would be different from 20 mL of a very concentrated solution.

As stated above knowing the concentration would help, or exactly what product you are using. If you have a heavily planted tank it is not necessarily a bad thing. I would do a water change and test it more often than normal. If your reading is high just do more frequent water changes until the nitrates are down to a normal level. As long as your nitrates are not over 50ppm, or really over 100ppm their is no reason to panic and try to get it back down in a day or 2.

So if your nitrate reading is 20ppm after you've been dosing, that's fine. I would just make it doesn't go up and try to gradually get it back down to the 10-15ppm range.

*Disclaimer: I am not an expert on the subject so anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

...dry ferts mixed with distilled water and glut to prevent molding during shelf life..I dose 1ml per 10 gallons, daily..and since its diluted I decided (as I stated above) to just do water changes to bring things back to normal state...thank you for your concerns and willingness to help but problem solved...oh, I test water tonight to confirm levels...thank goodness for water changes they save us from alot of things....

I've done the exact same thing lol. Luckily I tested the water, I usually don't.
