Iron overdose symptoms ?
There was a thread a few days back in which it was stated that too much iron causes problems and the expression
of "burn the roots" was used. I have an excess amount of Laterite in my tank and also use Tetra iron plus I sometimes
use Leaf Zone which both contain iron.
So can someone give me any thing like a list of symptoms that I should look for just in case as I have great plant
growth in there with plants that float or are otherwise roots in the water oriented(like Java Fern) but the plants which are
in the substrate are growing very slowly and have a reduced level of the EI ferts weekly plus Excel daily.
A couple of months back some Rotala which I bought had the roots rot off completely and I thought it was because
they were rough handled but I now suspect that this over doing the iron may be what caused it.
I hate admitting that I was wrong more than the next guy but if the life of my plants is at stake, I may justify changing
the substrate even though there is good money tied up in what is there.
One symptom is not enough to convince me but more than one may do it in this case.
