how are you cycling your tank?

Are you adding any ammonia, or are you just slowly increasing the bioload via the algae eaters or other fish?

Did you ever see any rise in ammonia and nitrites?

Some with ammonia no nitrites but that what the quick start is for or controls.

I would keep a close eye on nitrites. In my experience the nitrite cycle isn't an instantaneous occurrence.

I used a 42 cu. in. sponge filter that had aged for 1 year and it still took 1 month for nitrates to show up. Then it took another 3 weeks for the nitrates to eat up the ammonia by the next day.

if you're already using seeded filter, go ahead.
Just add slowly and watch the parameters.
