I use Red Sea no3, po4 kits
I use Aquarium Pharmaceuticals ph, and gh/kh kits

I like the Red Sea kits-they are cheap and accurate

Nitrate test kits are prone to false negatives. Most read low. The best kit (the one that at least reported the correct trend) was made by Seachem. Some of the most popular here read almost one order of magnitude low. Use caution or make a good standard and see if whatever kit you get reads correctly.

I have a Aquarium Pharmacuticals nitrate kit. If I compare the color per the manufactures recommendation, it reads zero (a nice bright yellow). If I remove the stopper and look at it through the mouth of the tube, it reads something between 5 and 10 mg/L (like that ugly Tennessee Vol orange), which agrees somewhat with the near-12.5 mg/L I get with the Tetra test kit (which I would not recommend if you plan to dose nitrates). I would not follow the recommendations of the AP kit. Read it looking through the mouth.

These are my other kits:
Wardley pH junior
AP Ammonia
Tetra kH

I have no clue if any of these are accurate. Maybe some of you who are members of Consumer Reports can suggest that they look into the accuracy and precision of the test kits. I used my fathers account and sent them a message with that suggestion.
