Colour of K2SO4?

I just received a pound of K2SO4 and its not like the leftovers from the last order. Both are from different sites, the leftovers from my first batch is pure white and the new batch is a sort of dull pink colour.

I'm assuming white would be the colour of a pure chemical, is the pinkish one something else?

I don't know much about the specifics of K2SO4, or ferts in general, but unless you are dealing with labratory-grade purities (which would probably be a waste of money for our purposes), very small differences in impurities can cause fairly large differences in coloration, etc.

From a geology perspective, quartz, amethyst, rose quartz, citrine, and smoky quartz are all SiO2, but have different colorations due to trace element impurities (I have no idea what the actual %-ages are, but I'd be surprised if they were anything near ~1%)

I agree, the pink colouration is likely due to some small impurity. The chemicals we use are usually agricultural grade (or technical grade, at best), so are not always necessarily pure.

Your potassium sulfate, however, should be fine to use.
