Another PMDD question, not related to dosing

Hello All,

I have been lurking here for awhile, attempting to learn as much as I can. I have initially decided to use the Greg Watson PMDD. After reviewing the link to the Krib, the recipe for PMDD is listed as:

Conlin and Sears' latest PMDD formula
mix with water to make a 1/2 liter solution,
1 tablespoon chelated trace mix
1 tablespoon MgSO4+7H2O
2 tablespoons K2SO4
1 tablespoon KNO3 (varies, depends on your nitrate)

The labels on the PMDD I have received states:
1 Plantex CSM
1 tablespoon MgSO4+7H2O
1 tablespoons K2SO4
1 tablespoon KNO3

Has the formula changed since the old Krib post? Perhaps the label on my packages are simply mis-printed?

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!

If I were you I wouldnt dose PMDD. With that idea you have to dose many things at one time. So if you see some green spot algae you cant just dose PO4 you have to dose everything in the PMDD solution. You lose some control over your tank. I recommend that you get KNO3, K2SO4 and KH2PO4. Look in the water param section of this forum for a dosing regiment

Hey bigstick, thanks for the reply.

I am just getting started with having high light and fertilizing my plants. Previously I just have had crypts, anubias, java fern, and I never really did anything for them other than put in some flourish tabs once in a while.

I just thought I'd try the pmdd initially for ease of use. After I get me feet wet and learn a little more what I am doing, then I imagine I will begin dosing the individual nutrients.

Thanks for the advice.
