How to soften my water?

Hi i want to i can make my water more soft so i can make an amazon biotope.

So here are my readings.
pH 6.4-6.8 it's hard to tell from the color chart.
KH 7d
GH 8d
I have thought about using peat moss , Bog wood , and distilled water but i think it would throw things way off and maybe even crash my pH.

Any ideas on how i can do this?.

I cut my tap water with RO for my softer water tanks. Peat works too, but will color the water.

Low or No KH and Low PH without a "Crash"?

Low KH and pH crash

I just bought an RO unit and I am waiting for it to arrive. I've been using Seachem's Acid Buffer and it works very well, but could get pretty expensive- pretty quick on a larger setup.

The best way to soften your water is to Research it. SimplyDiscus.com is a Great place for that info, but they don't seem to be back online yet.

As soft as your water is already, I'd say that the Acid Buffer would work very well, but a lot of folks don't like to add "Chemicals" to their system and I can understand that. Distilled water should help out and is a good choice on a small system. RO is actually the simplest solution after the initial expense!
