For my Sumatran biotope, it's going to house mainly Crypts., various species of Microsorum, and Java Moss. This will be home to a shoal of Chocolate Gourami's. Should I go with the 90w NO flourscent or the 60w NO? Whichever one I use, would I need to dose C02? What color sand should I use?

A shoal of Chocolate Gouramies [/envy]

Now I understand your need for softest water 8)

The plants you mentioned have not such high CO2 requirements. But it depends on the light. You say 60 or 90 Watts, but haven't mentioned the tank size.

If it is a 55 gal tank or bigger, I would say no. Don't need to.

If it is a 30 or so, I would say maybe. However, with soft water and CO2 you have those pH fluctuations... but a pressurized controlled injection should make things stable, and might be a worthwhile investment considering the shoal of Chocolate Gouramies

You might want to employ a darker colored substrate to make them feel more secure than they would over white sand.

It's a 30g breeder(36x18x12)...but then I would need a pH Monitor/Controller! Anyways, I'm going to use an XP2 connected to a fluidized bed? Would Tahitan Moon Sand be good, or something more brown?
