The main point of the EI method is not to test - our test kits aren't at all accurate unless carefully calibrated. EI means to just estimate what the fertilizer needs are and dose about a third of the weeks needs three times a week. Then, once a week change half of the water in the tank to limit any buildup of unused fertilizers. There really isn't any reason to try to hit an exact number for the amount of any one fertilizer in the water, and the excesses we see from using EI do not cause algae.

All you need to do is target a wide range of nutrient ppm's.

You don't need a test kit for that.
We add enough to prevent anything from running out, and do water changes to prevent anything from building up.

It's not complicated .........nor should be.
