Angry oops

well i got round to do some water testing today

ph 6.5-6.8
kh 130ppm oops think i add too much baking soda
gh 40mg/l
po4 1mg/l
no3 5-10mg/l
EDIT: forgot to add it the juwel 240 tank and i got black hairy stuff poblems

not getting much plant growth nor much pearling and some fish hang round at top of water (same ones every night) i got an air stone ready to turn on if its needed well that it any ideas why i got growth poblems ???

i ferts as follow
sun,tues,thurs
KNO3 4grams
K2SO4 10.69grams
FESO4 0.20grams
mon,wes,fri
1 teaspoon of trace mixed by Aqua Essentials
PER 1/8th of teaspoon PER 100L
Boron 1.06%
Copper 0.23%
iron 8.2%
manganese 1.82%
molybdenum 0.15%
zinc 1.16%


any ideas ppl ???? im stuck as to the problem :S

cheers in advance for any ideas or even the poblems to this mess

Your GH level looks to be on the low side. You could try raising it a little and see if it helps.

If your fish are hanging around the surface at night, it could be due to low O2 levels.... seeing as your plants aren't pearling much. Are you running CO2 24/7?

no co2 off with lights
did water change just with following water results
ph 7.28
kh 70ppm
gh 40mg/l

for some resion ph is higher out of tap than it normally is
by my accounts i need ph of 6.6 to get 30ppm of co2 am i right ?
also how would one raise level of GH ????

Your CO2 calculations look about right to me.

Have you seen any signs of calcium or magnesium deficiency
If so you can raise GH by using Seachem Equilibrium, or you can follow the instructions at the bottom of the Water Chemistry Page on Rex's site. Just go slowly with it.

i think i have got calcium and magnesium deficiency i rad that link thanks btw i have to order some more ferts and see thanks very much for help

btw how much of each should i dose ???

If you follow the instructions on Rex's site, 0.79 grams of Calcium Chloride and 0.33 grams of Epsom Salts will raise 10 gallons of water 1 dGH.

A rise of 1 dGH should be ok to start with and see how you go from there.
