Low pH liquid for testing?

I'd like to test the low end sensitivity of my pH probe/meter. What low pH liquids (say, something available around my house) could I safely dip the probe into? Also, if you know the pH of the liquid you recommend, that would help, too.

Yes, I could order the low pH calibration fluid, but I figured I'd try to test at home first. It doesn't need to be exact -- just something that is lower than, say, 6.6.

you would still have to purchase something, but you could buy discus buffer. many are made to drop pH to 5.0. This would last about 30 years if just using it for calibration purposes.

Not sure how accurate those buffers are, but my 7.0 buffer reads exactly 7.0 for me, so hopefully all are near that accurate.

I doubt you will ever find anything of known pH around the house.

If you just want to test a low pH try lemon juice or vinegar.

Actually, on the Milwaukee website, they recommend Soda Pop. Should read out to somewhere in the 2.6-3.4 range. They also recommend using household ammonia based cleaning fluid (windex) to try for the high reading. Should go up to over 10.0 with that.
