New Tank Dosing Qs

Hey Planted Tank Forum,

I'm new to the forum, and the world of planted tanks. My question is a simple one; what fertilizers / dosing / whatever should I be adding to my new tank in the first two weeks or month in order to achieve healthy growth and water quality?

I'll try to describe my set up as best as possible, if I forget something, please ask!

30 Gallon tank
Used tap water w/ chlorination drops
Used 2 bags Eco Complete substrate
Used black gravel to create elevation / depth in certain areas
One large piece of driftwood purchased at my local aquarium shop (I soaked this for ~ 10 days before adding it to the tank)
10 pots Baby Dwarf Tears (separated and planted in foreground)
6 pots Eleocharis montevidensis (separated and planted along back of tank)
1 Java Fern Mat (~ 6-7 3 fern bunches planted in mid-ground)
Flame Moss attached to drift wood
Different Moss attached to drift wood (not sure species, was a sub from aquariumplants.com)
Single LED light strip ~ 6 inches above tank, running ~ 12 hours per day
10 Flourish tabs in the substrate evenly distributed
2 cap fulls Flourish since original planting day (3 days ago)

I did a test strip yesterday and got the following results. Because the colors are hard to interpret, I have general ranges for some of them:

PH ~7.4
Alkalinity between 0-80
Hardness between 250-425
Nitrite 3.0
Nitrate between 0-20

Water temp set at 74 degrees F

Thanks in advance for the help, I'm really looking forward to maximizing this beautiful hobby!

Shameless self-bump

shameless self-bump for answers!

Perhaps my first post was too broad of a question? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds to me like you covered most of the bases for fertilization. Couple of questions:

Are you adding co2? If not, you should probably consider adding Seachem Excel, as the plants need to be provided with a source of carbon. Its not REQUIRED, but expect slower growth if not done.

Can I have more details on the lighting? It certainly looks bright enough, however a single strip is typically not enough (depending on the output) and you do have it suspended up above the tank. I also noticed fair amount of dark area that your driftwood is creating, not sure if that will be a factor or not.

Are you intending on adding fish? Be sure to fishless cycle if you do. Here's a reference: https://www.plantedtank.net/forums/sh...04&postcount=3

latchdan is asking: are you using Seachem Flourish Comprehensive or Seachem Flourish Trace?

Sorry for the delay:

I have two 15watt LED lights running around 12 hours per day,

Im dosing Flourish Excel 2/3 cap daily, and
Flourish Potassium 3 caps per week.

I recently purchased the second LED, and have them both placed on the top of the tank now, not hanging above.
