Question about substrate.....Eco Complete, Flourish,etc....

Hello all.... I have a question about Eco Complete,Laterite,etc.....do these have to be added BEFORE the tank is established, or can any of these be added after? Ive been pondering going that route for my tanks, and was wondering if I would have to completely break-down my aquariums and start from scratch, or if any of them could be added right to an established aquarium with little or no mess.....thanks all.....

You can add it at anytime, but its going to make a mess. I havent seen a substrate that isnt dusty.

The more u rinse eco complete or flourite though, the better off u are.
And by rinse i mean garden hose and a huge strainer for like 30 minutes

And rinse and rinse and rinse...

You can add it later but expect cloudiness for a while. Even when you add it to a new tank, it takes a couple of days to get to clear water.
