Iron Chelate Equivalent of Seachem Iron

Alright I bought Iron Chelate from GLA which I suspect is EDTA Iron...or I hope it is.

How much of this should I add to a 500 ml container of distilled water to make up a solution roughly equal to Seachem Iron Fertilizer.

I know the two use different sources of iron, as Seachem uses ferrous gluconate which I can't find an easily available source that would be cheaper than just buying the Seachem but I'm hoping Fe+3 will be taken up as readily as FE+2. Will it? Or will I have to watch out for a build up of iron now that I'm not using the Seachem?

For reference Seachem Iron contains 10,000 mg/L ferrous iron (Fe+2) gluconate.

(11% DPTA FE) 36.364g in 1000ml = .02ppm per 1ml dose in 200L ( x 5ml dose) = .1ppm

(13% EDTA FE) 30.77g in 1000ml = .02ppm per 1ml dose in 200L (x 5ml dose) = .1ppm

Ferrous Gluconate 20.5% FE or thereabouts

I'm not sure what they sell, but to proceed you need to know. It might be listed on his website, so check and see.

I do my own calc when it comes to mixes, but wet's calculator is an excellent resource.

In your browser type in without the quotes [ rota.la ]

from my iP 5 via Tapa.

Ok its 11% DPTA so that means 36.36 g/L or half of that for my 500 ml container.

Thanks mrkookm
