EI dosing and vacation time

How do you deal with EI dosing when you have to be away for a couple of weeks? Do you overdose before you leave? If so, by how much? My tank is 47 gal and heavily planted (and no fish).

2 weeks is stretching it a bit; if you can get someone to dose for you while you are away, that would be helpful.

If not, you could just dose a little heavier before you leave and decrease the photoperiod for the time you are away. Your plants will probably look leggy by the time you come back, but they should be OK.

How much should I overdose by? I plan to be gone for 10 days.

Here's my plan:
+60% water change day before departure and top off to the brim
Reduce lighting to 6hours.
Ensure co2 is set and may put a new tank on a few days prior to leaving.
Overdose ferts the day I leave. I just don't know how much. Would putting a weeks worth in at once be harmful to the fish? Better to have more ferts than not enough right..

I just want to come back with my fish and plants alive and not to big of an algae problem.

Go to 5hr days. Reduction in the light will also cut the demand for ferts. If you want to overdose a little before you leave, I would only do so by 20-25%. I have gone on 4 vacations since having 3 hi tech tanks and have never had an issue. My tanks are all topless so I had to get someone come in and top off. That was more important to me to make sure I wasn't wasting CO2.

I'll have to make sure to bring down my circulation pump so it doesn't cause too much surface agitation once the water begins to evaporate.
