Automatic CO2 injection

Hello all, i have got a quick question. I a automatic co2 injection system, one that uses a ph probe to find ph, then inject co2 as needed, how is kh known?? I thought that if you dont know the KH of the water, you can not work out co2 consentration. Any ideas???

Thanks, Mark

Yes, you have to test for it. I enjoy these:

Once you know the KH of your TAPWATER after it sits for 24 hours, then look at a chart to find your target co2 concentration and then set the pH controller to the correstponding pH.

EDIT: one of many co2 charts: http://www.thekrib.com/Plants/CO2/kh-ph-co2-chart.html

Yep, you still test Kh separately.
Say your Kh is 5degrees. a pH of 6.6 would give you 38ppm, pretty much the upper end of what's effective.
So you'd set your pH controller to a pH of 6.7 or 6.6.

Hi all. After hearing about this, i am guessing that there is no way of eletronicly testing for KH, without using chromotography. Am i correct is that guess? I am asking because a am making a device that is going to control co2 injection, and also control heating and lighting. Somthing like a aquacontroler, but non of the devices out there ever test for KH.

Thanks, Mark
