API Root Tabs Aquarium Plant Fertilizer

Can some one give me some advice. I use a DIY co2 system and use a Liquid fert also. What about root tabs? Is their a DIY for this and do you guys do for ferts in ur tank? I basically raise stem plants and some crypts.

Any input would be help full.

I suspect searching diy root tabs would come up with some threads for you. Some people have access to Osmocote Plus which has micros and NPK. You can place it in the tank in empty gel caps or put a few balls in the bottom of an ice cube tray with water and try to shove the cubes under the substrate before they thaw. The outer ball will persist and can be annoying when they come to the surface.

I made up clay tabs by mixing in the same dry powders I use to dose the water column. This thread shows the method. It wasn't as messy as I thought, putting them in is easy and the clay doesn't dissolve enough to make much of a mess. Makes a huge amount that will last even my big tank a long time. https://www.plantedtank.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=187077

Very old school, use Jobe's sticks. The one for ferns and palms is the one with the least amount of urea and ammonia I think. I found one for house plants in my cupboard and used those without fish growing four eyes or anything though. They have a matrix that will persist in the substrate, sort of strange to come across if you have forgotten you put in the sticks. Just break into bits and push to the bottom of the tank, the plant roots will find them.
