Need help with ferts!!

So been looking for a dry ferts kit and found this:

200 Litre

Nitrogen salts - 500g
Monopotassium Phosphate - 250g
TNC Trace elements - 100g
5 Dosing spoons 1/64th - 1/4tsp
Dosing instructions

Will that be everything I need to dose my tank or is it missing stuff?

Thanks

I think you might want to look for alternative forms of potassium since the dosing for potassium vs. phosphate can vary based on your tank. Maybe KNO3 (potassium nitrate).

Potassium and Nitrate are going to be your best friend in growing plants. Phosphorous/phosphate if not dosed properly can cause very undesirable algae blooms.

I use pfertz liquid ferts and almost always get algae blooms if I dose phosphates as often as I dose nitrate, potassium, and micros.

Right so if I cut back on the phosphate then I should be ok? It was just a kit I found on eBay but didn't think it had everything I needed, hence the question.

What about this:

NITRATE*
1 x Potassium Nitrate KNO3 500g
PHOSPHATE*
1 x Potassium Phosphate KH2PO4 250g
MAGNESIUM*
1 x Magnesium Sulphate MgSO4 500g
TRACE*
1 x Chelated Trace Elements 250g

You do not want to cut back (eliminate) phosphates, as phosphorus is required as a macronutrients for plants.

However, it is important to maintain a balance of phosphates, as it is with everything else.

This actually is almost all you will require. You may want to take a look at the trace mix analysis to see if anything is missing. Regarding the magnesium sulfate, it is usually part of a GH booster (consisting of calcium sulfate and potassium sulfate as well). The GH booster may or may not be necessary, depending on your water chemistry.

Phosphate is not going to cause algae problems in an aquarium, unless there are other problems too. But, if you don't dose enough, you can get green spot algae pretty quickly, and that stuff is hard to scrape off the glass.
