Question Transparent leaves

Hi there. I am currently going through some problems with my plants, mostly my ludiwgias ovalis, palustris and green.

They seem to be turning there leaves transparent and dying.
My dosing schedule is as follow:

1/2Tsp KN03 3x a week
1/8Tsp KH2P04 3x a week
1/8Tsp K2S04 3x a week
10ml Trace 3x a week(CSM+B Plus Extra Iron )

50% water change
~3.2wpg for 10hr
substrate is Florabase...

What is going on?

Thanks,
Pedro

You have a high light tank. What's the Co2? Have you tested for Gh? Please do so and post. It looks like a Ca deficiency or an Mg deficiency. Maybe both.

I recently had the same problems with my plants. The L. Repens (which I no longer have) looked exactly the same, but I couldn't figure it out. I had a low Gh. When I started dosing Mg, there was a big difference in their appearance. Their leaves grew bigger and wider.

Although I was getting good results, the leaves of the plants were still growing transparent. Then I added Ca, and the plants took off. They are extremely healthy and many of them are branching out. Right now the Gh is around 14 dh, and their loving it.

Maybe your going through the same problem.

Then I believe you should start dosing Ca and Mg from now on.

Remember to test you gh and keep track of it. My Repens died as a result of low gh. I wish I had known sooner.

Lissette

P.S. I dose about 3 tsp of Ca and 2 tsp of Mg for my plants after a w/c. Your tank parameters will need a higher dosage. Check out the fertilator to figure out the correct dosage for your tank.

Well, adding 1/2 teaspoon once a week of SeaChem Eq will rule that out.
I think it looks lke CO2 to me and I've had the same plnt do the same thing.

FB will mess with CO2 also.

Tom Barr

Those two are the only plants that seem to be suffering.
I think it might be too heavily planted and not too enough traces...

GH/KH is good out of the tap water. I do not think there is any need to add Seachem Equilibrium.
