what is your GH?

1/8tsp will be fine for shrimp... not really sure how high you can go before it is bad, but I have 20 Amano in my 50g and dose 3/4tsp 1x per week... no problems there.

I think you should. 4d is at the low end of what the minimum requirements are. I try to get mine to 7d, but is in no way required.

So, dose the 1/8tsp and you should take care of any Mg deficiencies, and the shrimp will be fine.

from what i researched it helps raise the GH of low GH water, and also adds magnesium to the tank, a trace element it is also used in cichlid mixes i think ? im not so sure i hope somebody gives a better reply to that question

Adrian, I suggest making a new thread for new questions. Quick answer, it doesn't.

Epsom salts will raise GH. However, the general wisdom is that the largest percentage of GH should come from calcium, not magnesium. Many people dose calcium to magnesium in a 3:1 to 4:1 ratio.

Epsom salts will only raise magnesium.
