root tab question

Hi I'm new to planted tanks and have a ten gallon with eco complete substrate and api root tabs that have been in for about a month. I want to pull some plants and do some trimming/rearranging.My question is is it safe to disturb the substrate or will this cause water quality issues. I am more concerned with fish health than algae. I plan on doing a 50percent water change as soon as I'm done too.

Try not to disturb the substrate that much if possible. Removing plants, replanting shouldn't cause issues, but removing gravel or removing a TON of plants might get you a diatom bloom like me. definitely do that WC.

You might drain a lot of the water to start with, then do the rearranging in a partially empty tank. Maybe even move the fish to a temporary bucket (covered- fish jump)

Put a plate or plastic bag over the substrate and refill slowly, so the new water does not further disturb the substrate.

Thanks for the info guys. I was also wondering if as the root tabs dissolve into the ecocomplete does the eco absorb it and become available to plant roots that way?

Yes, Eco Complete along with Kitty litter, Flora Max, and Safe T-Sorb are all known to Store Nutrients. As in Root tabs and Ferts.

Just another Shrimper wondering around the Fourm :p
