Dry fert newbie

I am wanting to try some dry ferts for the first time. I do not run CO2, I have been using half tap/half RO and using flourish and flourish iron.
Any suggestions or links?

Here is what you need and where to get em. Copied and pasted from an earlier post of mine.

Most folks that want to dose economically buy dry macros and micros from various places. The two I know of currently selling are greenleafaquariums.com and www.aquariumfertilizer.com. I have not personally ordered from either of these places as I bought a crap ton about 6 years ago from someone who no longer sells it.

Macros:
KNO3
KH2PO4
K2SO4 (debatable if even needed if dosing EI lvl KNO3)

Micro:
either
CSM+B or Miller micro plex. Take your pick.

and usually
Iron Chelate

and then only if you have really low GH
once weekly GH booster after water change (magnesium and calcium)

reread your post and realized you are probably asking about doing regimens.

This is EI or Estimative index it is for high light CO2 enriched tanks. So this is not what you want but can be used as a starting point. You didn't say what size tank so I' just using below as an example.

20~40gal
50% H20 change-weekly
1/4 Tsp-KN03 3x a week
1/16 Tsp-KH2P04 3x aweek
1/2 Tsp-GH booster once a week
5ml or 1/16Tsp-Trace 3x a week
Optional
1-2ml-Fe/Iron 3x a week
EI Sticky

To go from EI to low tech you can roughly change the three time a week dosing to once weekly, and divide the doses in 1/3.

Low tech weekly dosing
1/12 Tsp-KN03 weekly
1/48 Tsp-KH2P04 weekly
1/6 Tsp-GH booster once a week
2ml -Trace 3x a week

.5 ml-Fe/Iron weekly

*edit: BTW this isn't my own crazy math, its from Tom Barr, and is just to be used as a starting point.

obviously unless you have a fairly large tank these doses get very small and basically impossible to measure so you will likely have to mix up your own solutions, which is fairly easy.

On the bright side 3 bucks of kno3 will last you years in a low tech tank.

@nilocg Sorry wasn't aware of that. I will make people aware next time someone asks.

Edit: Oooh even with a price match guarantee and a very good price on CSM + B. OK you are my new vendor now. I had previously always bought from greg watson my last order was quite large and in the interim had significantly downsized my number of tanks so it has lasted me years.

read the FAQ on the subforum to different methods. They mainly vary by dosages but find one that suits your needs. If you are starting out, you can try PPS Pro and adjust.

just know that the most dramatic results for supplements are best paired with medium/high light and CO2 but not a requirement as many have successfully improved plant growth in low tech setups. Lots of material on here, the barreport and aquaticplantcentral to name a few i frequent. good luck!
