large difference in tap water pH and pH misted from hose ?

I had a panic attack when I tested my water straight out of my tap
pH 8.6
kH 3 gd
gH 4 gd

when I mist this same water out of my garden hose ( how I fill tank) the pH is 7.4 thank goodness.

I live in Bermuda where we catch our own rainwater on our roofs and store it in concrete underground tanks , so both results are from the same tank. Any clue to why this happens ?

Or anybody know a natural way to lower pH that will not alter kH or gH or stain the water too much ?

Probably amounts of CO2 in the water from being misted from the hose, it's mixing more with atmospheric gasses, I dunno. Try this. Take a cup of water from the tap, and a cup of water from the hose and test. Then let them sit for 2 days and test again. At that point, they should be the same pH.

Do you know what is making the pH so high? Remove that.

You received a spot on reply from GeToChKn.
+ or - CO2 content in the water is causing the difference if both the stored source and the tanked waters when tested are resulting in the same GH/KH. Organics within the tank system can lower pH readings by what are normally a fractional amount but the reported readings in this thread I would wager a doughnut and coffee are nothing more than CO2 induced.

thanks gurus , my tank seems to be stable at 7.4 the same as the mist from the hose , only my kitchen tap seems to be above 8. lack of gasses in the pipes could explain this as said , thefoleys has a good point about lime build up as well , as will do some experiments and let you guys know as the results may help someone else. 7.4 should be fine for me as i've heard people have bred there RCS and CRS in that pH. I will just work to keep the water clean and stable. Thanks again
