Ph Woes

So I lowered my Kh to 4-5, and was able to lower my Ph, but it still bounced back up to 8.2 a few days later.
Does my Kh need to be even lower? Are there any other buffers besides Kh?

How did you lower your Kh & pH?

Kh by replacing water with RO water; ph by using Seachem's Acid Buffer.

hmmm, what's in your tank? A chunk of limestone would bring it back up.

Dont worry about pH. worry about kH, gH, TDS.

I know everyone says not to worry about ph....my response would be, if ph doesn't matter, why do certain species only live in a particular area? Why don't they live in another area with exact same temp, kh, gh, etc...
My point is, maybe ph isn't the #1 issue to be concerned about, but I want my fish to have the best quality of life, and I want the aquarium to match their natural environment as closely as possible. In an aquarium, everything matters to a certain extent. I've kept fish for a long time and just followed basic principles. I want to step it up a notch.

Ok, sorry about that....
There is a rock that could possibly be limestone, but wouldn't that raise the Kh?

There's either soft water fish, neutral water fish, or hard water fish. You don't see fish categorized as 5.6pH water fish or 8.5pH water fish. Hope you see the difference.

DOn't know, depends on the rock. Check the gH or tds.

Wfish If u want to step it up, take mistergreens advice. There are soft neutral an dhardwater fish. The result of each area is ph

Keep the gh and kh close to their liking and they will do wonderful.

My rainbowfish require moderate hardness of 6 kh and 14 gh as an average. And a pah of 6.5 to 8.
My tank is kh of 3, gh of 5, and ph of 7.2 without co2 andr below 6 with co2. And they spawn frequently.. eggs get eaten but they still spawn.. all i do is grow plants, feed them well, and change large amounts of water weekly.

So the point im trying to make is just keep it stable, keep it clean, feed them well, and they will be perfectly healthy... also my tetras spawn and my ottocinclus, the only ones that dont are my loaches
