Brown sediments after mixing K2SO4

Hi,

After mixing K2SO4 with water in a bottle, there were some brown sandy sentiments and black specks at the bottom after leaving it over night.

I was mixing 36g into 400ml of water.

Are those impurities?

Thanks!

They are, but I couldn't tell you exactly what they are. They've been in every pack of K2SO4 that I can remember having. I just pour the solution through a coffee filter to get them out.

I had the same problem with CaNo3(2).4H20. Had to use CaNO3 to replace KNO3 because I can't purchase KNO3 without a permit.

I get undissolved white particles floating in the water. This was 34g with 500ml of water.

Though I had no problems with KH2PO4.
