EI Dosing Help

Could someone tell me if these numbers are in the ballpark:

38 Gallon W/ 96 Watts CF

Day 1: 50% Water Change, Add 1 tsp KNO3, 1/4 tsp K2SO4, and 3/32 tsp KH2SO4
Day 2: Add 1/8 tsp CSM+B

Day 3: Add 1 tsp KNO3, 1/4 tsp K2SO4, and 3/32 tsp KH2SO4

Day 4: Add 1/8 tsp CSM+B

Day 5: Add 1 tsp KNO3, 1/4 tsp K2SO4, and 3/32 tsp KH2SO4

Day 6: Add 1/8 tsp CSM+B

Day 7: Nothing

I'm shooting for 20 ppm N, 2 ppm P, 20 ppm K, and .1 ppm Iron. Does this sound about right? I will have medium/high light and DIY co2 + Excel.

I have a 46 gallon with a KH of 6, GH of 13, a PH of 6.8. 96w cf with pressurized co2 on a haggen latter medium planting and lots of fish. Last KNO3 test reading was just before last water change and it was in the color section of 15 - 20ppm on the test.

DOSING:

Tueday: 50% water change, 1/4tsp of KNO3, 1/8tsp of K2SO4, and no KH2PO4 right now due to eco-complete being very high in that department of over 3.0 on the test.
Wednesday: 10ml CSM+B (dose of 1Tbl per 250ml of water (old excell bottle))
Thursday: 1/8tsp of KNO3, 1/8tsp of K2SO4
Friday: 10ml CSM+B
Saturday: 1/8tsp of KNO3, 1/8tsp of K2SO4
Sunday: 10ml CSM+B
Moday: Nothing (Day of Rest)

I have been doning this routine for about 3 weeks and only a little bit of bba algae and it is isolated but I already had that problem. CO2 is at about 29ppm and I think I have to up it a little.

Am I dosing too much then? I am dosing Marcos in my 20 gallon at the same as you are dosing in your 46 gallon. Are you getting good growth with your dosing routine? It seems the more I find out about EI the more confused I am.

I have wisteria that is growing very fast, various java ferns, crypts (wendetti and balansae) those are slow growing and I have some sunset hyrgo that is pretty fast and various other plants. I have to trim at every water change.
My fish are all happy and that is a good thing to.

sounds like the KNO3 is too much. I dose 1/2t 3x per week in my 40g and end up over dosing quite a bit.

EI says to dose 1/4t 3-4x per week per 20g's.

Check your PO4 too. I was dosing 1/8t 4x week KH2PO4 and ended up with estimated 32ppm PO4 within a month. That is even with weekly 50% water changes.

I am now down to a little less than 1/16t 3x per week. A little less than the minimum EI recommends.

Send me your email address and I will send you my new Dosing Calc spreadsheet that has some good statistics automatically generated based on your dosages. Will help you with knowing how much K you are dosing as well and assumptions as to how much NO3 and PO4 uptake is assumed each day, etc.

I run my 46 pretty lean......

Day 1: 50% Water Change, Add 1/4 tsp KNO3, 1/4 tsp K2SO4, and 1/32 tsp KH2PO4
Day 2: 8ml Flourish

Day 3: Add 1/4 tsp KNO3, 1/4 tsp K2SO4, and 1/32 tsp KH2PO4

Day 4: 8ml Flourish

Day 5: 1/4 tsp KNO3, 1/4 tsp K2SO4, and 1/32 tsp KH2PO4

Day 6: 8ml Flourish

Day 7: Nothing

I am think about upping it a bit....but so far i am striking a great balance.

Thanks for all the help. I think I'll be trying Jason Baliban's plan, but with 10 mL of CSM+B instead of Flourish. I may end up upping it a little bit, especially the PO4, because I'm getting real good Limnophila Indica and Hygro 'Ceylon' growth with high PO4 in my other tank, and they will be the primary stem plants for a while in this tank. I'll probably stick to overdosing my 20 gallon because things are growing well for once, and I'll compare the growth in the overdosed tank to the growth of the "normal" dosed tank. Now for the hardest part, waiting for my lights to come Monday.

i mix my CSM+B solution with Flourish. 75% CSM & 25% Flourish. You get a little extra from Flourish that CSM does not provide.

Make sure you know what solution people are referring to when saying 10ml though. could be 2x too much or 1/2 too much, etc, based on the solution you make.

250ml water +1 Tblsp CSM+B is the solution that EI people use.
