KH ridiculously high

So I've been settled down in my dorm for a couple weeks; everything parameter-wise seems to have settled out in my tanks. I've got a 5 and a 2.5 gallon, and they're both using the same 50/50 tap/RO water. I tested my KH just now, in both tanks, and it comes out to 20 drops. GH is really low. Is this anything to warrant using only RO water? :/

I had this problem last time, where my KH was real high and my GH was real low; in another thread I made a long time ago someone mentioned it was because there was a high level of sodium in the tap that allowed carbonate to be dissolved without calcium and magnesium.

My stock seems to be happy - I've got a couple RCS babies and a mom that seem to be doing okay, and some Boraras naevus from misjinkzd that are active and healthy. My pH is real stable at 7.6, and my CO2 keeps the plants happy, but I can't help but be concerned.

If you want the KH to go lower, and the tap water is suspicious then you would be best to go with 100% RO, and add back just the minerals you want.
Equilibrium for GH and some source of carbonate or bicarbonate for KH. Baking soda is commonly used.

I wouldn't think your tap water would be that hard at State (GO BLUE) but get it tested as its fairly easy or many local fish stores will have data on tap water.

In the mean time go RO and remineralize as above.
