How much Osmocote under new substrate?

I've read about people putting Osmocote Plus under their substrate before filling their tanks and I'd like to try this. I have some FSS that came in today and I want to make sure I have a nice fert base underneath it, since my MTS isn't ready to go yet. How much Osmocote would you recommend spreading on the floor of a 10 gallon, moderate-to-densely planted tank?

Thanks!

According Tom Barr, you should use about 5 grams per square foot, a little bit less would be safer. Just sprinkle it sparsely over the bottom of the tank then cap it with your substrate. The substrate should be deep enough to prevent it from surfacing to the top. If you use too much, you'll end up having ammonia and nitrate spikes. Hope that helps.
