Fishless cycle

When doing a fishless cycle with ammonia what's if after the 3 day of being started the ammonia level still at 8ppm do I continue to wait untill it drops or do a water change.

Wait until it drops to about 1ppm and then bump it up to about 4 ppm. 8 ppm is a bit high. Just leave it alone. Until it drops. Did you have any seeded bacteria added to the tank from another tank or is it just a new tank with no bacteria added by you. If that is the case three days will most likely have no changes. Wait about a week and if the ammonia has not dropped then do a water change as it might be to much ammonia.

Too much ammonia. Do a 50% water change. The goal is 5 ppm ammonia until the nitrites show up, then allow it to drop to 3 ppm and maintain it there with no more than once a day additions of ammonia.

These bacteria do not grow so fast when either ammonia or nitrite are over 5 ppm.

Can I use RO water or just plain tap water ?

i'd use tap. bacteria still need trace elements to grow and survive
RO will provide them with nothing

do i stil use the water conditioner or just leave it with the chlorine?
