KH "Used Up"

The KH in my tank drops FAST. I am not too sure what would be using it up at high rates.

Tap. 3
3-4 days after water added
Mon. Under 1 KH added baking soda to reach 4 KH
Tue. Not Tested
Wed. Not Tested
Thu. Test before w/c Under 1 KH w/c added baking soda to reach 5 KH
Fri. Not Tested
Sat. (Today) 2 KH... Going to do water change today not going to add baking soda no point.

More curious as to what would cause this drop?

Aquasoil and Driftwood.

If this is what is sucking it up. Is there any point in using the baking soda? Will it balance out? Or will it always continue to use it?

I think AS buffers the kh down to around 1 degree if the water is pretty soft. It will do this until the substrate's buffering ability is used up.

yeh aqua soil will lower the KH, that is what it was meant for. i do not add any buffering and it doesn't harm anything. you do not have to add it.
