what is the ideal gh for a heavily planted tank?

i have a 4 foot tank wich is heavily planted im wondering what the ideal gh is and while im there what fertilizers do most people use?my tank has 200w and im useing a prouduct called daily gro by aquasonic anyone herd of this? its an australian brand.

I don't think there is an ideal, but you do have to have some general hardness. Plants use both calcium and magnesium. My water has almost zero hardness out of the tap, and I add Seachem Equilibrium, which supplies both of those ions as well as potassium. Some folks add CaCO3 and Epsom salts instead. I like to have at least 4 or 5 degrees GH.

I use Flourish for micros and the same ferts you would find at Greg Watson's site for macros. Since you're in Oz and I'm in the States, I think I should let someone else give you specific recommendations on that.

I used daily grow when I first started my planted tank.

I dont anymore, now it's a concoction of KN03 KP04 and traces.

BUT! I will say this, I am having problems supplying enough calcium to my plants.

I'm thinking that a higher GH could help a lot.

Like drops of fertiliser into the tank, so are the days of our CO2...
