Tolerance in ph swings

I've often heard people refer to PH swings or an unstable ph, as something that can lead to various forms of algae, stunted plant growth, etc.

I'm wondering what is an acceptable PH swing? I have a PH controller and pressurized co2, and my target ph for my tank is 6.5 (while co2 is running). Is a swing between 6.45 and 6.55 lets say, over the course of two hours, acceptable? Does it need to be more precise than that? If not, what would you all consider to be a dangerous swing in PH? (during co2 running hours).

It's not the co2 induced swing that's the issue. I drop my ph 1.5 easy in the few hours before lights on and it slowly comes back up after lights off.

You do, however, want the co2 level to be pretty stable. So for the first hour you might drop from 7.5 to 6.5. Once it's at 6.5 you want it to stay around 6.5 or as close as possible for the duration of the photo period. You don't want it to drop off over the day, or keep rising either.

keeping blue rams with very high co2, KH 0, PH swings are possible, ph reading below the chart but these swings are harmless. its more harmful when adjusting it with baking soda, so am not adding any buffering at all in my tank.
