Which test kit.

I am on a budge(broke) but i ran out of my test strips this morning. The strips did great when i was just testing to see why my fish were dieing, but now that I am trying to keep plants i find it's lacking much of what i need. What is a good starter kit that i should look for at my LFS? Or what should I look for?

Thanks
Sean

I use Aquarium Pharmaceuticals (AP) and they work fine. You are going to have a hard time finding one "kit" that includes everything needed for a planted tank, so you're probably going to need to buy them individually. KH, GH, Nitrite, Ammonia, Nitrate, Phosphate are the most important ones. You may also want to consider Iron (I use a Hagen kit for this) and Calcium.

I agree with Jim. I bought Salifert ph, kh, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, and phosphate. This week just for grins (and comparison) I bought AP ph, kh, ammonia, and phosphate. The AP were about 1/2 the price, easier to use, and IMO had more viable scales.

50g, eco complete, am1000, pressurized co2, just went back to 3wpg

AP is my choice too. If you are looking to buy online at a cheaper price than you will find at petstores then use www.bigalsonline.com

may as well pick up everything that you will ever need testkit wise. i.e. as mentioned above, PO4 does not come in the main all-in-one kit.

you do however have to wait a week to get it as they ship slowwwwww. worth the price, imo.
