effects of phosphates on co2 levels

Since excess phosphates could alter co2 readings, what levels are we talking about where it might be a factor, 5ppm,10ppm more? Does anyone have an idea on this? Thanks,
John

Somebody else has also asked that question lately. I have always ASSUMED that a few ppm we typically dose does not alter ph noticebly. But now I am going to get to the bottom of it.

I am going to try to mix a known PO4 solution, say 10ppm. My PinPoint ph meter is capable of resolution of 0.01, so the relative change I get before/after should be accurate.

It is relative to your KH level. If you have enough phosphate to compete with the buffering ability of your bicarbonate (KH), then it will matter. So, since most try to keep their KH at or above 3-4degrees (53-72ppm), I'd say you need at least 10ppm to see any effect if you have 3 dKH. (estimate of conversion between phosphate ppm and KH ppm omitted).
