Dosing K2SO4

How much K should I use if I make a solution of 250mils water and 1 tablespoon of K2SO4? And how are others mixing their K2SO4.

Using Chuck Gadd's nutrient calculator, with your mix, you would be adding .19 ppm K2SO4 for every ml of solution. Suggested range is near 20 ppm. I would personally add a dry teaspoon of K2SO4 directly to the tank. That would give you 17.84 ppm K2SO4 assuming 0 ppm prior.

Do a search here for that calculator; it is really helpful.

I use to mx it into the change water. About a 1/16th to 1/8th dry teaspoon to 5 gallons, if memory serves me. BTW, some folks say they have noticed too much K will limit calcium uptake.I think it was Rex Grigg. Others say they get enuf potassium in the KNO3 and KH2PO4 ...so they stopped dosing potassium. Interesting, if a bit tough to figure out... FWIW ? bob

My experience has been that my tanks were not getting enough K with just KNO3. I was constantly getting pinholes in older leaves and even anubia leaves were getting holes. Stem plants were stunted...

So I started dosing additonal K 3x a week and the pearling increased tremendously and the previous symptoms are slowly going away.

I dose dry. Chuck's calculator, at least the downloadable one, gives you an open of direct addition to the tank and accepts inputs in either tsps or grams.

Thanks for all the suggestions and posted experiences. It really helped me make my decision.

I will try the 1teaspoon dry method and see how that works!!! I did have a problem with the stuff completely disolving in solution so it seems the dry method should work out fine.
