Humic Acid / Blackwater extract?

ive never baught that blackwater stuff and proberly never will. but i know people use it for tanning the water for tetras and such.. so my question is does it just contain humic acids? you can get pottasium humate and i wondered if it would be a good suppliment for breeding?

could it have the same effect as peat and possibly some bogwoods?
i doubt this stuff would stain the water, but then again i dont know what colour the powder is but it is extracted from soil

any info?

I have some (Instant Amazon)that I never use and it says it binds to humic acid. Also it states that it increases fertility in fish, and light utilization in plants. I don't use it because it will throw the co2 charts off.

My understanding of humic acid is it softens the water by precipitating calcium and magnesium. It also lowers pH.
